Outsmart a Grizzly Bear

grizzly bear2

Quick! What would you do if you saw a grizzly bear up ahead on the trail? Freeze or back away slowly, right? Well, what would you do if you didn’t see the grizzly bear behind you ready to attack?

It’s hard to know you’re safe when you can’t see the grizzly bear creeping up behind you. And, if you’ve never seen one before, how would you know to be scared? If you didn’t have a clue it was behind you, how would you know to react?

What we’re saying is, it’s nearly impossible to avoid a problem you don’t know you have.

This is what it’s like with impending CMS rules, and the fines and penalties that can sink their teeth into you if you aren’t compliant to the interoperability and information blocking provisions. Even scarier? Being unprepared to outperform the mandates and secure better healthcare outcomes.

Have you heard about the 21st Century Cures Act: Interoperability, Information Blocking, and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) Health IT Certification Program? Healthcare providers, health information networks, and health IT developers of certified health IT are all required to implement these new rules.

The new rules are comprised of penalties against information blocking, and updates to the Health IT Certification Program to enhance interoperability of Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI). Organizations are required to adopt the United States Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) standard and standardized application programming interfaces (APIs). Health data must now be securely and seamlessly exchanged and accessible.

For decades, the federal government has trusted BookZurman to help develop the CMS rules that you have to comply with. Now, we’re here to help you to understand the spirit of the rules so that you can succeed. Be aware that soon expert help will be limited and come at “emergency” prices (and fines) from the industry. Now is the time for action.

Need help? That’s what we do.

BookZurman is a consulting firm that bridges the gap between healthcare and technology. We can help you understand the new 21st Century Cures Act ONC Final Rule and what is being asked of you. We can help your organization discover where your organization fits within the provisions and what you need to do to avoid penalties. We can help assess your organization's level of interoperability maturity and your compliance readiness for the future. And we can prepare you for conversations with your third-party technology vendors to discuss how they plan to comply with the new regulations.

Without adopting 21st century interoperability, the bear will soon be on top of you, like Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant!

We see the bear. It’s behind you. And we want to be the park ranger that pulls you to safety.
